  • Yes all drugs are a lifestyle choice.
Like i said before most people have had alcohol in their life so there's no need to put it up there. Same with cigarettes, not a lot of people smoke but it's not something looked at as unusual if you get what I'm saying. At the end of the day, drugs do have useful benefits but it's the peoples fault for abusing them. Are they 100% healthy, hell no. But you're saying the ones that are legal aren't okay, and I'm saying they are. It's the people that abuse them that give them a bad name. Alcohol is responsible for a lot of deaths per year, usually because someone gets wasted and decides to drive and ends up killing themselves or someone else. Drugs aren't for everyone but you shouldn't ban alcohol or cigarettes because someone doesn't know how to handle themselves with them. I don't see it as the drugs are bad, i see it as the people who are choosing to do bad with alcohol. Does that make sense?

And alcohol and heroin aren't comparable at all because heroin is more potent and way more addicting. And also heroin is very easy to overdose off of. You can have a drink of alcohol and not become addicted, but most people who try heroin will become addicted. And i only say that because i know a couple people who have completely changed since trying that drug. And they were the ones saying they would never do heroin, or touch it ever again. And now they act/ look different and all their money goes to it. I barely see them because they literally sit on their ass all day because if they move too much they get sick and throw up. And with alcohol you can still function. So i guess i just don't think they should be compared at all.

    • Alcohol may have some useful benefits, but nicotine has none. You are still saying that legal drugs are ok and they are not. I wasn't suggesting banning anything because that doesn't work; however I am very glad that in this country smoking is banned in many public places and I wish it was banned everywhere that's public because of the effects of passive smoking on others.

You're right about the addictive qualities of heroin vs alcohol, although there are people who use heroin, don't get addicted and if they have the money to support the habit without committing crimes, function quite well, hold down jobs etc - admittedly a minority of heroin users. Using small amounts of alcohol is obviously ok but alcoholics who think they are functioning well are delusional.

I guess the test is the old one: does use of the drug (legal or illegal) adversely affect my relationships, my employment, my health and my finances and can I give it up easily? If yes to all those questions except no for the last one, the person is addicted.
