What does the confederate flag stand for?

Sometimes, I go past people's houses and they'll have a Confederate flag waving in the yard. I kind of doubt that they're just KKK racists.

That flag is seen as a symbol of racism, but I realize that it stands for much more than White supremacy, or perhaps in some cases may not mean that at all.

Is it just a symbol of the South, meaning like, "We're proud to be Southerners."?

If you happen to be a person with a Confederate flag, or know someone with one, what does it mean to you?

The Confederate battle flag can stand for all of the above which is why it's so controversial. It means different things to different people.

You need to look at the source of the claims being made. The Feminists left wing will tell you all white are racist too. So naturally they will apply this to anything related to white people. Remember, they create fake reality, and stories, then they push them in their "news" until people believe it. "White guilt" and "white privilege" are two examples of created reality that does not exist.

We will never know the real story behind the flag now, because it's been hidden and distorted so badly.

  • While some people display it for racist purposes, it's a safe assumption the majority doesn't. Judge people on their words and actions, not a piece of fabric.

It can mean different things to different people. Some racist rednecks display it to outwardly show their racism and "white" pride. The truth is South Carolina seceded mainly for the same reason the collonies seceded from England. They thought they were being taxed unjustly. To fund the industrial revolution the north imposed heavy tariffs and taxes on southern cotton and prevented direct sale to Europe. The south was mostly farm land while the north had most of the factories so the South didn't really benefit from the industrial revolution as much and felt they were being taxed unfairly.

Some people in the South still feel the scars of the war of northern aggression. Whole cities in the south were burnt to the ground, southern women were raped, men were tortured. The winners of wars get to write the history, that is why it is taught that it was just about slavery which is bs. Many southerners fly the confederate flag to remember those lost, and for pride for their home town, state and region and not for anything racist whatsoever.

Like many things it has become demonized by the ignorant radical left wing social justice warrior mob. They don't care to learn about the real history instead just think "south = racist = bad. Flag = south = racist = bad." The flag and civil war statues are being torn down by the mobs in the never ending white shaming that is so prevalent today. It's really no different than the way Isis would demolish ancient non Muslim temples or churches in Syria.

It was a flag designed during the Civil war to stand for the Confederacy. What it came to stand for now has been distorted down the line.
