What does it mean when there are vultures around?
So, since yesterday there have been vultures perched in our trees. Nothing is dead around here as far as I know, but I read vultures of harbingers are death and destruction. Is this an omen?

The only reason you made this is to show off you know the word harbinger
1) It means that there is some carrion around, for them to feed on.
Just because you haven't seen or smelled a dead animal, does not mean that it is not there.
Remember that the vultures' sense of smell for decaying flesh, is thousands of times better than ours. Vultures can literally smell death from miles away.
2) Are you certain that they are vultures that were perched in the trees, and not wild turkeys, that somewhat resemble vultures?
A few months ago I was at the nearby clinic getting my blood tests done and out around the parking lot there was a whole horde of vultures sitting around perched high up on the surrounding buildings. It looked like something out of a horror film. But mysteriously they were only there for that one day. I still don't know why they were there and what made them leave later.
My friend who fought in Vietnam told me when food was scarce you surprisingly can eat almost anything if it passes these 3 rules. Attention.
1. It died relatively recently
2. It is well cooked
3. It's not a vulture
