To me, "dating" literally means "we are going on dates" and "nothing serious" literally means "I'm not looking for a committed, long term relationship". Other people might be using those words as a euphemism for casual sex, but if I was using them then it would be literally (which may include casual sex).
If there's no deception then it's okay. If there is deception then it's not okay.
