  • Haha, I guess somebody had to!

Contrary to popular belief, almost non of the products you hear so much about from your salon stylist & see so much of on television do anything good on a long term basis for your hair. Usually, all they do is coat the hair follicles or strip them of your own healthy, natural oils.
I stopped using anything but baby shampoo & kukui nut oil four years ago & I only wash my hair once -no rinse-and-repeating- every other day or even once every two days & ever since:
No more dandruff, oily hair, severe dryness or breakage. My scalp is healthy & my hair is always soft, strong & shiny.
The kukui nut oil is only once every one or two weeks for the very ends of my hair.

    • It's actually better to go a few days between washes to allow the natural oils to work through the hair.

But you're right, most shampoos just strip the hair, and the conditioner then coats it. The heavy perfumes cover over the "dirty hair" odor. Tea tree oil application will deodorize nicely.

      • Way ahead of you, darling.
I do a tea tree oil treatment once or twice in the winter months if I show even the slightest sign of dandruff developing.
Also, I've committed to weening myself off of washing with anything but water, a bit of baking soda & apple cider vinegar if necessary as a conditioner -& I plan to have to do even that much as rarely as possible. Au natural, baby.
