What do you want your future self to remember about you 20 years from now?

I'd probably want to remember how I managed to pay all my debt off this year.

How about you guys?

In twenty years I'll be 70, and I don't even wanna think about that to tell you the truth.

    • Is it the aging process? I fear wrinkles and arthritis too.

Yeah, I don't want to think to much about aging. At this point I have more arthritis than wrinkles. I think I'd rather go back in time, and warn my younger self than preserve memories for my future self. I guess I want my future self to be grateful for this little cat, the convertible I'm driving and the house I'm living in right now. I want my future self to remember good memories of my parents, because my father is 83, and my mother is 79.

Nothing. In 20 years I want to be extremely rich and so far removed from my life now that I can act like it never happened.

    • I kind of get it. I'm saving money and working on moving away from all the ghetto idiots in my neck of the woods that can't do shit for themselves.

In twenty years I'll be dead. On the surface, it looks as if I've had it all. Money, adventure, success, career accomplishment. But given the choice, I don't think I would live my life over again. There's always been quiet desparation, anguish, and constant loneliness. It's been unshakable since I was preschooler.

Loneliness meaning you longed/long for company but didn't get it?

    • For some reason I find that quite deep.

    • Are you saying you'll be a better person 20 years from now?😊

In twenty years, I'll be in my mid-eighties.

I'll happy if I remember then anything about how I am today, although there are lots of things about 2020 and the last few years that I hope I can just completely blank out.

    • About 2020? Do you mean the orange one and how he's horribly handling protests, covid, relations with China, and a handful of other stuff? Is it racist to call Trump the orange one? 😂

Partly all that, but I live in the UK, and we have additional problems that you Americans don't have to worry about. Strangely enough, the issues here are due to politicians who have many similarities to The Great Orange Dotard and are very nearly as stupid, venal and short-sighted as him, and voters who have a mindset very similar to that of Trumpers.

As far as COVID is concerned, it's interesting how, just as Trump claims the USA is doing great in spite of the statistics proving otherwise, the British Prime Minister says that his government has dealt with the challenge splendidly, yet the statistics tell a very different story. The facts are that the UK has the highest raw number of COVID deaths in Europe, the highest case-fatality rate of any developed country and a per capita death rate that's second only to Belgium amongst European countries (and Belgium uses much more inclusive rules for counting virus fatalities while the UK hasn't been including many deaths due to the virus in the official figures, so the UK is likely at the top of that list too). The UK government blathers on about the measures they're taking to solve the problem with track-and-trace, but various fuck-ups along the line mean fuck-all is actually happening on that, and a sizeable part of the population are such ignorant, selfish clots that they refuse to modify their behaviour.

Populist politicians suck; the voters who are stupid enough to fall for their BS and simplistic solutions suck almost as hard.
