I met a guy from Belfast once who told me some pouf drugged and buggered him when he was 15. He told me that he saw the pouf out later and smashed a beer bottle of over his head. This poor guy's name was Sean and he was an alcoholic.
There are a lot of people here who grew up in the 60's - early 90's pretty much all of whom have some sort of terrible story to tell. I know people who were tortured and received punishment beatings etc.
It's crazy how fast things have changed though, since the late 90's it has become like any other western European country. Kids here under the age of about 20 mostly have no clue about what has happened over the years. There is still the odd bit of trouble but it's more like gangs these days.
What do you think of when you think of northern Ireland?
