And I'm just saying that "it's disrespectful to its origins" is not a valid argument, because institutions that oppress people don't deserve respect until they stop oppressing people.
"it's disrespectful to its origins" Is a fact (if you know your history), not an opinion, so it's quite valid as an argument.
"institutions that oppress people don't deserve respect until they stop oppressing people."
That on the otherhand is an valid opinion, not a valid fact.
Because it's breaking the law of the religion that created it. It's not an opinion, it's a written fact. If it wasn't disrespectful, gays would have been getting married for the last 2000 years and the entire issue wouldn't exist in the first place!
I'm not saying you have to like it and i can see why many wouldn't, but that doesn't change it from being true.
People who aren't part of your religion aren't being disrespectful by not following your religion's rules, they're just not being part of your religion.
But marriage is part of that religion, the church always decided who was allowed to marry. It's basic history that you are trying to argue with, don't you know anything about the topic?
You are saying only what you want to hear. And it's not my religion, i just read alot.
What do you think of same sex marriage?

I'm not sure how you figure that whether something is disrespectful isn't a matter of opinion.
