I support Civil Unions over marriages for both Gay and heterosexual relationships. The state in this case will recognise the rights of both parties regardless of the nature of the sexuality of the couple.
I think this marriage business should be a personal thing, not a state thing.
The problem with civil unions is that 1. They only give state rights, not federal rights. and that 2. They are not recognized outside of those states that allow civil unions.
I honestly don't know how it would work under a federal system (I'm assuming you are talking about the United States). However I think that such an issue should be dealt at the federal system.
What do you think of same sex marriage?

I am talking about the U.S. and I agree.
