If they choose to leave, the rest of us in England, Wales and N. Ireland should respect their decision and work together for a painless parting of ways... Or 'conscious uncoupling' as Gwyneth Paltrow would put it.
I would be sad to see Scotland go, though. I'd rather see more devolved powers, instead of a break-up of the Union. I really like Scotland.
I feel the same way about Scotland. I love our Union, and it makes me feel sad that a lot of people in Scotland (and Wales and Northern Ireland) don't feel represented in it.
Devolution is important. English society needs to be awakened to the cultural diversity within the UK, because I don't think that many people who live in England are truly aware of it. Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland are distinctive places, and their people deserve as much devolution as they want.
