What do you think about mras?

I don't like them, because most of them are just angry men who hate women for "playing the victim card" when they do it themselves. I've had many a conversation, and they're awful, and they will generalize you for being a woman and then get mad because you "shame" them. They will start a fight, but don't "shame" them for being trolls.

I don't like what they stand for. 7

Someone had fun with their thumbs on this post...

I've thumbed all the comments up 1 so they should now be visible again (they were all at -3 and hidden); except my own because I can't up-thumb myself (not an innuendo).

    • Ugh. I hate thumbing comments due to the whole karma ratings but given it's been unfairly done, I'mm'a join you on that one. I think they got Neuro's comment taken down, too.

I find many of them to be as annoying as the feminists who seriously flip fuckin turkeys over street harassment and... Dear God... Men sitting with their legs too wide open on public transport. Fucking really? REALLY!? Susan B. Anthony is facepalming herself provided there is indeed an afterlife in which she inhabits.

I can't say I fully blame them, though. They live in a world where modern feminism has demonized innocent men for stupid ass reasons. The whole "objectification" of females bullshit is much more often perpetuated by females nowadays than it is by males. Maybe when both sides quit trying to best each other we can actually start working toward gender equality again.

      Best comment ever :)

Btw, did you see that post on fb the other day? By Ashley something?

      • The one on how she is saying a woman walking alone at night is in more danger and more brave than a man in the military? If so, I seen it. Fuckin' wack-jobs. Lol.

That's the one. You've seen it to hey?

          • Yup, I've seen it. Honestly, I'm not taken back by it at all. It's downright retarded but it's expected that there would be feminists out there that think that. I've seen them say and do worse. It's a sad time when something that should shock people doesn't due to how expected it is of a group. Lol.

    • I liked your comment but in all seriousness, have you really seen MRAs complain about how women sit on subways? Lol.

I won't say the MRM is perfect but it is a step up from feminism in my eyes. If you want to see more on the topic you should look up Victor Zen and GirlWritesWhat. :P

    • I live in a bad city. It's not the place I was originally raised in. When I was walking home from school I used to get catcalled, and even though to you that may not seem like a big deal, it is. I've had to stop walking home from school, because I don't feel safe. I shouldn't have to be harassed when I simply walk. I hate being hit on.

Well as far as guys keeping their leg wide open, they're only making themselves look stupid, and some guys probably aren't all that aware of how they sit.

Imagine. If we could just make it possible to make every future child born hermanthrodites, sexism would no longer be a thing (as racism wouldn't be a thing if we're all one day a single ethicity). Feminazis and chauvanists would cease to exist. It's sad how in 2014, we still have issues amongst each other by one's sex.

I can dream, anyway. It would be a huge step up in our evolutionary progression.

As strange as it sounds I sometimes imagine aliens living on a far away planet who are hermaphrodites that can impregnate themselves. I imagine that their civilization is completely free from sexism.

      • Genetically complex hermaphrodites are self incompatible. In a species that has only one gender, they need to find another hermaphrodite to replicate with. Also you would be creating clones if you were self compatible. Having a gene pool full of clones is bad for a species going through some sort of change, because they could all die.

We aren't Herms, but we could change the way we raise our children, so we could prevent future sexism.

        Sorry for the bio lecture.

  • Well, given Splashy's comment may of been deleted, I'll make this short just incase you're a coward and don't allow one side to speak.

MRAs do not hate women. Some might but in general they don't. They sure do point out double standards in society that men suffer from and women benefit from but that's as far as it goes. If the MRM hates women then why did they raise $10,000 to find the attacker of a woman at one of their events? Why do they delete misogynistic posts from their prominent site (AVFM)?

I know what this is here for, though. It's predictable. You're going to post this, keep up comments that claim to dislike MRAs, delete all the opposite views, etc, etc. Seen it all before.

    • I didn't delete spashy's comment.

Not all MRAs are on that site. I've seen some pretty horrible men. I would say the majority of MRAs hate women, and they like to spread a healthy dose of hatred everywhere they go. I wouldn't put it past the MRM to make themselves look good. I know that sounds as cynical as one can be, but you would be too.

Most of the ones I've seen on the Internet are horrible people, who are threatened by women's freedom, but haven't lost theirs.

      • Alright. I apologize for making the assumption. I was wrong.

I wouldn't say the majority of them hate women, I talk to quite a lot of them and they certainly don't hate women. Hell, it's a woman that's one of their favorite speakers for the MRM.

There are certainly those that hate women and are MRAs, but when they come about a lot of us put them down and tell them to shut the fuck up. I've done it, those I know have done it. Hell, in my early days I got told off for it. Infact if it wasn't for the MRM I would probably hate women (I won't go in to full detail on that unless asked).

They do give a healthy dose of hatred, where it is deserved. Everywhere they go? I wouldn't agree.

Most MRAs are not threatened by women's freedom. Despite the part where women already have freedom, dare I say more of it, but this is a usual go-to statement to shame MRAs for something the vast majority of them are not threatened by nor wish to stand in the way of.

Why do you have these views of the MRAs? They have been the ones that have had groups (feminists) target them to prevent them from having their own events, preventing them from speaking out to help men and boys' issues. They have yet to pull that shit off to anyone elses events and yet they're seen as the horrible people?

If you could explain the issue you have with MRAs then can you explain why exactly that is with examples and so on? That way we can hae a back and forth conversation about MRAs from an anti-MRA to an MRA.

Ehhh.. they're okay. Some of them are such whiners! Always bitching about "rights".

I have no first-hand experience of MRAs really - but I can't see anything wrong with them on principle. Sexism doesn't exclusively affect women, and sometimes it takes grass-roots activism to create a cultural shift in attitudes, and institutional changes too.

However, just as with any rights groups, not all members are in it for good reasons. So just as you get misandrists hiding under the 'feminist' label, I'm sure you get misogynists hiding under the 'masculist' label. You're also always going to get total assholes in any kind of group who don't know how to debate, are ignorant or entirely immature.

You just have to keep in mind that the majority probably have their heart in the right place.
