Some daft lads throwing rocks at each other doesn't really constitute a war. Where I live, that happens every Friday and Saturday night. One time, a lad threw a whole bicycle at someone and the tyre made a mark on their cheek. The United Nations offered to come in for peacekeeping and they got a bike to the face too.

Would be nice to see two big countries fight a proper war, though, not like those softies that fight proxy wars using Afghanistan and Syria as an arena. Should be ashamed of themselves. Don't go to war unless you're prepared to have your homes bombed in the night and your family killed.

If it escalates then China will wipe the floor with India. I'm pretty sure they had a war in recent history and China won.

It's the sort of thing that always happens when two countries that share a border are both led by nationalistic autocrats who want to show how powerful they are and deflect the public's opinion away from their failure to deal with other, much more important things.

I've had a look at Google Earth's coverage of the area, and it's hard to imagine two rationally-led countries ever getting into a fist-fight - never mind a full-blown war - over such a useless, worthless patch of desolate peaks, rocky ravines and unpopulated, arid river valleys.

I acknowledge that I don't know much about the history of this particular conflict, but religious supremacists and expansionist nationalists like Modi and Xi have been a blight on humanity for a very long time, and stupid border conflicts have a long history of blowing up into something terrible when there are people of ill intent on one or both sides.

If you're the one who posted this query, the fact that you said the Indian soldiers "sacrificed" their lives indicates clearly that you are biased in favour of the Indian side.

From my perspective, the deaths on both sides were unnecessary and a waste of young lives. The majority of those men probably believed they were on the side of right, and their families probably need to believe that too, but that just shows the power of indoctrination. Ultimately, the responsibility for their deaths lies with the people in power in both countries who have never been smart enough and motivated enough to sit down and negotiate a compromise borderline.

I respect your findings.and yeah...I am an Indian.I respect my country and love the rest.

Your findings are good but incomplete.I don't know what your medias telling about the issue.from my knowledge, I assumed that the whole thing that happened in the border was a plan.

FYI, I live in the UK and the bubble I choose to inhabit is basically left of centre. What's going on in the Galwan valley is, to be honest, of much less significance to me than things much closer to home, and I'm sure it's of no interest at all to the vast majority of Brits.

The Guardian published an article about the brawl and its background yesterday. It suggested that what happened is just an extension of the aggressive, expansionist crap China has been up to in the South China Sea, and experts were quoted as saying it was highly unlikely the clash was an impulsive thing by troops on the ground, but it was instead a show of force directed from high up in the Chinese hierarchy.

The BBC report on the mêlée and its background was, I suppose, more balanced, in that it said Chinese troops had deliberately moved into an area which they knew India considered Indian and they must have known this was provocative, but it also highlighted how India has been building a road in the region which China objects to due to how it will allow India to more rapidly move in troops and supplies. The BBC piece also mentioned how the Chinese were not impressed by Modi ending the semi-autonomous status of Jammu and Kashmir last year, and nor have they been happy about senior people in the BJP talking about taking back Pakistan-administered Kashmir. Nothing was said in the long BBC piece about China's expansionist efforts elsewhere, but then people who are interested enough to read a serious article about this clash can probably safely be assumed to be well aware of that background.

The conclusion of the BBC piece was that India would probably have serious difficulties if this should blow up into full-scale fighting due to the disparity in the military strength of the two countries, but it also stated that the Chinese state media has not said much about the conflict, which could indicate that is open to discussions.

i respect what u wrote but building a road is causing china to attack india. however when china build the road in that region india didn't said anything but now when india is building they are objecting it. well nothing can be done now because they built the road in one day.😂
