Having lived in the states before it was necessary to lock your home, even in a city like SF, the changes I have seen are nothing short of super depressing.
But to say that the US is more violent than other 1st world countries is a bit simpleminded. Only someone who doesn't read world news would make such an asinine statement.
France just Wed last; killing 12 people at the satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo, including eight journalists and two police officers.
Norway; Anders Behring Breivik On 22 July 2011, he bombed government buildings in Oslo, killing eight people. He then killed 69 more people, mostly teenagers, in a mass shooting.
Germany; 11 March 2009 at a secondary school in Winnenden, Baden-Württemberg, in southwestern Germany, The shooting spree resulted in 16 deaths, including the suicide of the perpetrator, 17-year-old Tim Kretschmer, who had graduated from the school one year earlier. He also injured nine people during the incident.
I'll not get into the IRA's century of murderous activities and of course there are plenty of other incidents world wide.
The US isn't perfect by any means, but it's by no means the most dangerous place to raise a family.
Oh yeah, South Africa? Let's see.
1993, 18 April, 19 Sebokeng residents are killed by gunmen driving through the area, opening fire randomly for four hours.
1992, 17 June, The Joe Slovo Informal settlement in Boipatong is attacked by a group of about 300 armed men killing 46 people and injuring others. .
1992,7 September, Around 80,000 protesters gathered outside of Bisho. Soldiers then opened fire killing 28 protestors and one soldier, and injuring over 200 others.
So let's not be the pot calling the kettle black, shall we?
Thanks for giving all the detailed, outdated informations, except the Norway's one. I won't waste my time to check the reliability of your news but I shall praise your efforts on searching those OLD news among 12 years ago, you must spend a lot of time. So, if you are that brilliant, please answer me why the American attacked Iraq. Don't tell me it is because the Iranians had hidden some terrible weapons as it has not be proven, till now.
What do you think about Amercia?

Chaney wanted more money and power.
Someone has to be the bad guy and we have been given the honor since the fall of the Soviet union.
