What do you think about a white salsa?

Does anyone else think this is as exciting as I do?? I found a new mix of plants to grow including a pure white pepper and a pure white tomato and I thought it would be interesting to use them to create a (mostly) white salsa. I think the only other color might be green from cilantro (an herb).

So....interested? Would you at least try it if I offered you a sample? Would it be something you'd like to buy to serve at a party?

Add a comment if you'd like to suggest other white additions please!! I was thinking of a bean and/or possibly white corn. Can you think of anything else? All suggestions and input is welcome!!

And haha, NO this is not meant to be racist in any way!!

    Salsa Blanca....Might be interesting. It would be interesting to note if there is any difference in flavor, as some genetic engineering modifies the flavor of some vegetables and fruits.

    I'd be initially very skeptical but if you assured me that the ingredients were natural (and had not been bleached, GM'd, or otherwise meddled with), I'd be very interested. It does sound like you're sourcing genuinely white ingredients.

    It's great that you're thinking about food in this way. I wonder if you could make salsa that is all black and white, too.

      Yes, there are black tomatoes too!! You could do a mix of black and white tomato, and there's black jalepenos, black grapes, black and white beans...you sure could!!

      There's also pink and yellow tomatoes (among many others). Pink salsa could be real cool too!! I wonder how watermelon would do in salsa? I bet it could work!!

      I grow my specialty stuff, I grow organic and no genetically engineered stuff, but I'd have to purchase the white peaches and I'd try my best to find organic. I don't know that I've ever seen them for sale around here, but I do know they exist!!

        You could probably find organic white peaches in Georgia. And I'm sure California has an orchard or two, but it might take some work to find. Generally, if you tell me the food is local and organic- I will try it.

        I grew some Cherokee Purples once that were delicious. They aren't quite black, but similar.

        You just made me super excited for farmers market season!!

        Oh-and I don't personally grow the black tomatoes, they just don't appeal to the eyes. However I may now just for the purpose of a salsa!! Can't hurt to try.

          I love your enthusiasm for this. You sound like you've thought about this a lot and I'd be massively interested just to hear you speak about it.

          I'm really curious about the pink stuff now. I completely agree with you that watermelon could work but I honestly don't have the skill to work out what else would go with it. If anyone does, it's probably you.

      Me too! I think a spicy/sweet would be good! The white pepper is a habanero so it'll have a good kick!

    Sounds good to me. There is something very satisfying about making fresh salsa from the garden. I don't think you need to go too experimental with it, but maybe a white squash (I have no idea what white squash tastes like.) I've always liked mango salsa, why not white peach?

    I hope it turns out tasty!

      Squash tastes sorta like zucchini, it'd be alright for a salsa made out of grilled vegetables, if that's what they're after :)

      Other things you could try using are white radish, white eggplant, fennel or bean sprouts - with seasoning of course, not like one of those plain salsas. Obviously not all of those either because it's probably not the best combination, lol, just givin' a few ideas. :)

      Ah, white peach, good idea! I was thinking of leaning towards the sweeter side and that would be good. I'd just have to find the peaches....

          no prob! fruit salsa's are yummy, I've had some made with grapes that was pretty tasty but peach and mango taste similar too me. And grapes aren't really white-but it could work.
