What do you prefer... fwd, rwd, or awd?

What type of car do you prefer and why?

Personally, I love rear wheel drive. All of my cars are RWD.
Better turning circle, better and smoother ride, easier to work on and very, very fun to drive...

Nothing beats turning off the traction control and powersliding through a corner, getting the arse out. Bonus points if seen by other people.
Some may say I am infantile, or an idiot for doing it, but I think it's cool and most people in Eastern Europe find driftey-slidey stuff cool too XD

I don't know/ don't care (funny this one... buying a car without knowing the drivetrain) 5

    The problem isnt the cars.
    Its the speed limits.
    Poor drivers.
Cops making pay checks for writing tickets.
Ill take High Horsepower and traction.
    That means all wheel drive.
    Rear wheel drive is fun.
But the Audi Quattro proved 40 years ago.
You cant beat all wheel traction.

Hi megadriver! No need to hide yourself.

I have an 06 honda civic that I got for cheap because it had a funny smell in it and the ac was broken. And no I don't have a damn clue what wheels it drives with!

Hey, my last poll was about Balkan music. I was semi-drunk and enjoying it and thought I'd ask the people on here what they thought about it. But very few people answered XD

Guess Balkan music is disliked more than cars on here...

If it were that, the car would be undriveable and would constantly veer to one side...

Most economy cars, minivans, sport hatches are front wheel drive.

PS: A/C is a must. I always have mine set at 18C.

Not entirely accurate, both drive tires being on one side would only cause veering during acceleration, regular driving assuming normal steering systems, etc, don't pull when you're holding a steady pace. You can feel the pulling systems on low end economy cars when you hit the gas pedal and they torque steer hard to one side, it's because they aren't putting power to both tires equally as the system in low end cars isn't even a limited slip design they are open transaxle systems since that's the cheapest design. Those systems don't ever truly apply power to both tires at the same time so you're constantly getting one sided power and never notice. Inertia carries a car body forward at a stable rate provided the acceleration rate is equal to the wheel speed rpm increase.

If you turn the wheel you can offset it tho! I don't need ac much at all where I got to school so I got a good deal hehe.

I'd definitely prefer something rwd or maybe awd if I had the choice, but my current vehicle is fwd. I'd be interested to see how it performs on snow or ice, because my girlfriend's previous car was fwd and it did surprisingly well.

What kind of rwd vehicles do you have?

FWD is a lot better in snow than RWD. My last girlfriend had a Mazda 2 and it was a beast in snow. That thing just plowed through. My E420 can get stuck in the driveway if the snow is slightly packed, or there is any ice.

      I have 4 Mercedes ('05 C220CDI, '17 C350e, '07 E420CDI and an '05 broken project S600) and an '86 635CSI BMW - also a weekend/ project car, but 90% done.

All of those cars are hopeless in snow. My dad thinks I'm an infantile man-child for not buying a sensible, practical AWD car, or SUV like most people.
But I love sporty RWD cars XD

I've got a FWD car and a RWD pickup.

All my driving is on urban or rural roads, usually with my family in the vehicle. I'm not an idiotic show-off who doesn't give a shit if my driving ruins someone else's day or life, so I have no interest in doing handbrake turns or power-sliding around curves. The location of the driving wheels makes no difference to me.

As far as I'm concerned, motor vehicles are just a way to get from Point A to Point B as cheaply, safely and conveniently as possible.

You know there is a difference between exuberant, fun driving and endangering people by driving like a Russian lunatic... Obviously I don't drift in the city center around people, but if I see a nice corner and no risk, why not have a little fun???

All year long I have to drive like a grandma in Germany, I got 3 weeks of freedom when I'm back home and I enjoy them.

Also the location of the driving wheels makes a huge difference. Ignoring performance, RWD cars have a better turning circle, are easier to work on, because of engine layout and offer a smoother ride.
FWD is more predictable, cheaper to initially buy and better in the snow.

FWD because that is what my car is and I'm used to it and love it, lol. I honestly know nothing about cars, but I know that I enjoy my car and find it pretty easy to drive. The only thing is that I wish I had AWD in the winter sometimes.

I was interested in AWD but ended up buying a used 2014 focus off an army vet 2 years ago.

Its peppy and fun to drive and im not driving it alot cause work demands me to cover so much ground in the work van that when its down to my free time. I’m not looking for more road time

I still think about getting something awd for the winter, but i put on maybe 4k miles in 2 year on my car so I can’t justify it at the moment
