I haven't read the book, I have read a scene from it that isn't in the film that makes me feel like I'm missing out on the full American Psycho story, but the film is amazing. I still would guess the book is better, and I hope I get round to reading it some time. Especially since I read the bit that wasn't in the film, the "Killing Bethany" part, it just brings more of a "Psycho" feel to the story.
I have to agree, one of the bets, if not the best films out there. Christian Bale done a pretty good job acting in it, would you agree?
Bale was perfect as bateman, the book could never be made into a film fully because of the content, many graphic descriptions of rape, necrophilia and cannibalism to name a few. But the real brilliance of the book comes from it's ability to make you laugh out loud even during really disturbing moments like he walks around his apartment with a girls decapitated head on the end of his erection for 30 mins until it 'gets boring'. In regards to the book it is my favourite book ever, i used to get to the last page and then go straight back to the first again.

Dark humour? Yeah, I seen a bit of that in the film. The more I hear about the book, the more I want to give reading it a chance.
