We used to have cows, sheep, pigs, chickens, turkeys, geese, and horses.
But now all we have are cows and 2 horses, the cows for milk yes and they go for meat when we are done with them :)
Depends, some go old and get big udders real quick, some go down and can't get back up however they won't go for hamburgers they go to a knackers yard. We have one cow which is 12 years old that is our oldest one, we took 3 to slaughter not long ago and they were 6-7.
Well all farms were small family farms and they all had a bit of everything to feed themselves, but with more people to feed , and prices all over the place most farmers just went for one thing. We don't have the room for sheep and pigs anymore and they all bring there own problems. I think the chickens and geese gave the sheep salmonella. We had a fire and it killed a lot of the pigs and my grandad had, had enough of them. Chickens just died off and we didn't replace, turkeys were too much work at Christmas, and cows are beautiful so we kept them :P but the salmonella didnt kill the sheep ^ we just didnt have the room, so we went from all those animals and about 50 milk cows, to 215 milks cows and 2 horses :P
What do you do for a living?

Are you just in the business of producing milk or is there more to it than that? That question felt awkward to ask =/

Good lord 215 cows. Sounds like that would make enough milk for a small country. I'm guessing you have a lot of land?
Do you not eat chicken and pork anymore or do you trade or is there a grocery store you go to somewhere? lol
