With my parents it's the other way around... They hate Russia, communism and all the damage it caused to my family. Every contact they've had with Russians has been a bad one.
I hate communism, but I don't hate Russia. I got some friends from Russia and they changed my opinion about post-soviet Russia.
For a long time I hated Russia too. But then I realized that a bunch of idiot dictators running a country do not define the people of that country. Just about every Russian I've met was friendly, helpful and welcoming. Hell, most were ready to invite you for lunch, or dinner involving a lot of vodka 20 minutes after meeting them for the first time.
My dad reaaalllyyyy tried to put a lot of hateful and extremist and nationalist shit in my head, but I was such a hippie kid it just blew right past me lol
He’d give me the whole “Everyone outside of Russia hates you”, “It’s us against them”, “They don’t bleed when you cut them”, and I would just be let it pass.
But I guess my take is different from yours lol, cause when I would actually look at what Westerners said it was like holy shit they really do hate my guts.
I dunno, it doesn’t bother me too much. But some of the old propaganda from the Cold War and stuff that the US and West enforced about us is straight bullshit.
What do you call a person that “Hates or does not like America”?
