  • You think that a hobo with only one pair of holed socks would find socks boring?
You don't understand how lucky and spoiled you are if you find socks boring...
    What's wrong with this world.

    • If you think socks are an exciting gift, you're the one that's wrong mate XD

I mean a pack of 3 pairs costs like 5 bucks... That's the ultimate cheapskate, but play it safe gift.

Socks are even worse than a bar of soap and deodorant as a gift XD

      • I've never said it's "exciting". It's not boring. It's a gift.
But you are way too young to have this debate with me.

        • Really, gonna pull the kid card!? Why would I not be able to have this debate with you, I'm 27 and have managed to handle adult life pretty good so far. Go on, you responded to me... If my post was childish and immature, you could have ignored it... but you didn't.

How old are you then? 108? Am I supposed to get arthritis before being able to talk to you?
Boojum thinks socks are a boring and potentially a bad gift and the guy is around 70 I think...

Seriously, it's a gift... but I like to think there is a difference between a gift and a basic necessity. Would you accept toilet paper as a gift, or maybe a box of salt?! It's something we need daily, like socks, but we don't acknowledge it... Because it's something you must have in your daily life. You can acknowledge the work put into making socks, or salt, or whatever, but you can't really celebrate it.

And gifts are supposed to be something that take us away from the monotony of daily life. Usually they focus on something we like. Something that makes us feel good, or something we simply find visually pleasant. You wouldn't go all crazy excited around the Christmas tree about getting socks... But you would be excited if you got an interesting book on aviation for example, or a PS4 to play cool games, or whatever... Something that takes you away from the daily drudgery and in a way reminds you of the person that gave you that gift, solidifying the bond between you two.

The only exception to this is homemade items. If your grandmother made you socks, or sweater, or mittens... that is a gift from the heart. Effort and feelings were put into that gift! But buying a pair of socks for 1.99 from the discount bin at your local store and calling that a gift is just laziness at it's finest!

          • Ok sorry. You sounded waaaay more younger. I'm just one year older than you.

I'd rather have a pair of socks that I'll use than a book that I'll never read. I like useful gifts.
Socks will remind you of the person every time you use them.

I'm not talking about a pair of socks from a discout bin. I'm talking about normal, regular socks. Why'd you have to add the discount bin? You're over doing it.
People don't appreciate what they have now because they have way too much. And you guys are a very good exemple of that unfortunately.
