Ya, I've just never heard someone say I was trying to "look hard". You made me insecure about never smiling in pictures. Now I'm afraid everyone who's seen me in a picture thinks I'm trying to look like a thug. This is a revelation for me lol.
I don't like looking goofy in pictures, nor do I like looking like I'm trying hard to look attractive. When I see someone who smiles in every picture, it comes across as trying too hard.
You never answered my question. Why do you think a straight face is the equivalent of trying to "look hard". Look at any picture from the mid 19th century, and everyone is making a straight face. Would you say those people were all trying to look "hard"? No, they just felt that smiling in pictures made them look silly.
You think everyone who makes a straight face is a serial killer. I prefer classic style portraits. It's a simple difference of opinion. Let's just agree to disagree.
What do guys like in girls?

Trying would be the correct word choice. You look like you're weak and overcompensating. Smile for fuck sake.
