When it comes to both personality and looks.
I find this sort of thing really interesting. I'm always curious about what I've inherited from them, or just how they've influenced me, because they obviously have.
Appearance wise, I get my looks from my dad's side of the family, which I'm happy about. My mam's side are self-proclaimed "short arses" so they have short legs, and I'm sort of the opposite.:P The women on my dad's side are usually are somewhere between slim/curvy, which is the case for me and my two sisters. I don't really share any features with my mam, actually. Even facially I look closer to my dad (he's a banana too).
Medically, cancer is a big killer in my family (especially my mam's side). There's heart disease on my dad's side of the family. People in my family who look after themselves usually live long lives and age very well, though.
I really can't say what personality traits I get from them. That whole "nature vs. nurture" thing is tricky. And is it just the "nature" side you're asking about? Because I've inherited little things that I picked up from them (like habits and stuff), which falls into nurture.:S Either way, although this might sound harsh, my parents are what I'd hope not to be, like counter-role models, I guess. Especially my mam. So me and her are kind of opposites. I'm struggling to find things we have in common. Actually, we have similar tastes, and a lot of the music I love was stuff I heard growing up (this applies to both sides of the family, especially with my dad). Same with books (just my mam on this one). And me and her are both vegetarians.
Again, my personality is a lot closer to my dads. You wouldn't know this unless you knew him fairly well, but he's quite immature in certain respects (often in the same respects that I consider myself immature and childish). In real life, a big part of my sense of humour is really very goofy, and I get that from him. He's also very reserved and I know *very* little about him (although in a strange way, I do still feel close to him). To an extent, I get that off him to, although that's something I try to avoid, because I don't want to be closed-off.
I'm the odd one out in my family, though, so...I really don't know. I'm not really much like either of them. I'm just me. It makes me think how I ended up so different to my family. I have no idea where I got most of who I am from. Interesting stuff.:)
Oh heavens me, let's see. From my bio-dirtbag I got mental problems, a bad temper, a penchant for drug and alcohol abuse (I'm over that), creativity and his eyes.
From my stepdad aka dad, I got a bad temper and a love of fresh vacuum lines on a carpet.
Mother, dearest pain in the ass, I am now a pain in the ass but thanks for the full lips.
I look like a mix of them both. I have one personality characteristic that I share with my mum, which is being hot-headed. I might share some personality characteristics with my dad as well, but I don't know since he died when I was a child.
My grandma always says how my hands look exactly like my grandma's. I'm also quite good at drawing, just like my grandma was. So, I think, personality-wise, I'm closest to my grandpa even though my personality is much different than anyone's from my family.
I look like my mum's side (straightness and colour of my hair, shape of my nose and ears and my skin, too) and I take aspects of my personality from both but mostly from my dad.
I think I have really great parents and I think I share quite a lot with them personality-wise.
