What decides your enjoyments?

It feels like everything is decided for you. What is it that made you enjoy something? For example, I like astronomy but I don't know why. I never had a physics class or learned about the subject. Why couldn't I have liked something useful like programming or being a doctor?

And it's not just interests either. This applies to fetishes, music preferences, favorite colors, etc. While growing up, most of the kids around me preferred things I wasn't in to, and I wonder why I wasn't into those things. I'd try to force myself to like something, but it just wouldn't work. It's kind of frustrating to me.

Am I the only one who thinks like this?

Its one of lifes great myseteries. I love sex and lifting weights, not much else! I could not tell you why for either one! Just enjoy what you enjoy and don't fall prey to paralysis by analysis.

  • When I think of it the things I enjoy most have been things relatives also had interests in, so possibly some connection there.

I had a great grandmother who liked repairing cars and working on them, even rust repair which I just found out a few months ago. But thing is with cars it hasn’t always been something I’ve taken a big interest in until I first started fixing my own problems and seeing how everything works. After a pile of shit that constantly broke down I got used to having to replace a lot and to save money did it myself and enjoyed it. Now I do just about everything I can on my car and have fun doing it. Just yesterday replace my rotors and pads and have some other things to do. But since I was pulling off my caliper anyways I decided to finish painting them and am super excited with how it looks. Drilled rotors too 😍.

Another thing I enjoy is painting. Spray painting I do most frequently. Professional car painters be expensive af. After my car accident last year replaced my front end and painted it after which was a process especially having to do lots of sanding and polishing. But definitely an enjoyment and although I still have a few things to fix on it I think it came out pretty good. And my family has a painting company although I’m not involved I still thinks that’s pretty cool. Makes me think maybe I took after some possible family talents.

Other than that idk why I like the color blue or lately can’t stop listening to badflowers new song or their song heroin and serotonia by highly suspect. It’s just good.

I got my paint kit ready, but I'm still waiting for the right weather to paint the calipers on my C-class. It's been raining a lot over the last 3 weeks.

Also my garage in Germany is not ventilated, so not a good idea to breathe paint vapor in there XD
Best to wait for good weather and do it outside.

I also got a new set of lug nuts, cause mine got a bit of surface rust and I couldn't bother sanding 20 lug nuts XD
And I got Mercedes dust caps. Hopefully they won't get stolen like the last time. Someone nicked them on the same day XD

      • I kinda did mine in the rain but with a giant umbrella covering a good amount of space. I didn’t want to wait any longer, but didn’t make a huge difference cause my idler pulley #2 was causing some squeeling and come to find out the bolt on inside is stripped so hopefully I can find someone who can fix that. After some google searches I saw possibly a helicoil can fix that I sure hope so.

Haha I’d probably go buy new ones too. I didn’t even really need rotors that bad but yearly car inspections here are pretty strict. Oh shit really got some bad luck with those.

I actually still need to fix that paint run in my foglight cover you saw. A few spots need some touch up. But I want to go all out with some serious detail before, like clay bar and all. When I painted it I only did one thin coat of clear coat but I wanna truly take my time this time.

Painting your brakes in the rain... That's some serious determination XD

Sounds good on fixing the paint. Speaking of touch ups, I should really find the time to do something about the stone chips on my C-class. Why do Mercedes use a white undercoat for everything?! On a dark blue Mercedes even the slightest stone chips show up as white dots. And I probably got about 20 of 'em...

Don't know if I should bother with touch up, or just repaint the part... Pretty sure the old dude fixing my S-class can also paint my front bumper if I take it off and bring it to him.
Looking forward to detailing my E-class and working on the BMW tho.
BTW... Found and ordered these babies in almost perfect condition for just 430 Euros - https://ibb.co/S0KZxc6

E39 wheels that will look cool on an E24. Couldn't find any affordable BBS style ones. People are crazy, asking for over 2600 Euro for used wheels...
If I find better wheels in the future, I can always keep these as a second set right XD

          • It’s hard to hold off on painting and if it comes to a car part that needs painting it’s the worst. I think I may have messed up some by doing that tho 🙃.

White has got to be the worst always show through pretty bright. Well I noticed on my car even tho I primered it well some white from the original color started to show from rock hits and it once again makes me feel better I didn’t chose to name it bloody mary. Mines definitely starting to dot here too.

That’s a good idea, if san remo red wasn’t like $30 a can I’d be more willing to go over it again better.

Ohhh those are nice they look brand new. Yeah it’s ridiculous how expensive they can be. And that’s true I could really use an extra set for winter tires instead of paying to swap them. Or nicer rims in general.
