my mother is being a extreme tight ass! she is banning me from seeing my best friend because she is gay. i just wanna say go to hell and fuck off, but i wouldn't be able to live with myself. what can i do??? Is it normal for my mother to behave like this?
What's she's doing is basically teaching you discrimination.
Sexual orientation doesn't have anything to do friendship as long as you're certain about what YOUR sexual preferances are and you both accept that.
I have tons of gay friends and can't imagine turning on them just for that lame reason.

Parents can be really irrational, especially when their kids are teens. How old are you? I wouldn't advise telling your mom off, I think dappled has the right idea. Ask your mom if you can sit down and talk seriously about your friend in a calm manner. Ask her what exactly it is about being gay that worries her. Tell her even though your friend is gay, that has nothing to do with how good/bad she is as a person. After all, there many straight people who are awful human beings and many gay people who are upstanding (and visa versa). Also, tell her why your best friend is your best friend. Provide examples of how she's been there for you or has exemplified positive qualities as a friend and individual. If that doesn't work, try getting a bit of help. Do you have a Dad/aunt/family friend you can talk to? Maybe also having another adult talk to your mom might solidify your feelings. In the end, least you come of as mature instead of a brat as you would if you cursed her out (I'm not saying you are a brat but parents sometimes need little excuse to accuse you of being one) Last of all, assure your friend that despite your mom's opinions, you still want her for a friend and that maybe you can still see each other at school and that her being gay is your mom’s drama not yours.
why does your mom hate gays? maybe shes gay and has a hard time addmitting it.

Ask your mother "why". If you don't get to the nub of it, ask "why" again. Keep doing that until your mother tells you why (whether it's because she's homophobic or because she's scared you'll "turn" gay, which is in itself a form of homophobia). When you've got to the heart of it, reassure her.
