  • One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest in English and Холстомер (I think it’s Kholstromer in English)

I usually read historical books, whether it’s real stories or fiction, but I also read a loooot of romance novels, and I try to read any books or stories written by locals of my area

      • Besides this website and an app I don’t speak English anywhere else in my life, so I try to atleast read some English books to keep my grammar up

That seems like a waste of learning a language... but also would have sounded so much cooler if you were reading the book in, say, russian or norwegian.

          • ... huh?

I think you’re misunderstanding me, I’m reading OFOTCN in English, and reading Kholstromer in Russian, which is my native language.

I read books in English every now and then to keep English working in my brain so I don’t forget it. Cause I speak Russian and Mongolian in my daily life, but not English.

Maybe its not impressive to read a book in your own language, but... wait, Mongolian? Thats cool

That's really positive. I'm trying to be an author myself, and I would love to have someone like you in my area; if you're even going to far as to read the local authors, you must be bloody great for the local economy/ small businesses.

Well depends, I read a few books at a time cuz I get bored when just reading one for too long and only when I can concentrate. One of em is called „is blood really thinker than water“, which I dunno if it’s available in English, some book about Loki and various other things bout scientific stuff

I do that too, dude. What's the one about Loki?

      • Wellyoudliketoknoweh

        Haha noice
It’s called the testament of Loki. Difficult to explain, it’s basically told out of Loki’s view after ragnarok, when he was back in chaos again, about his escape and how he finds himself in another body of a gal. basically they both coexist in her head and then he’s tryna find a way to get his own body n stuff

Well, start slowly with news magazines. After your reading comprehension builds up, buy a couple of trashy romance novels. Time will fly as you read them. Plus, your mental disposition will become tuned to handle all the kooks, pervs, and trolls around here. Secretly, they need someone like you to make them normal.

    Kiss Kiss by Roald Dahl.

It's a series of short stories with some really dark and sadistic plot twists.

There's one story in it about a couple having a baby after having lost all their previous children during pregnancy or due to illness and they are begging God to let this child survive. Edited because spoiler

John Grisham, The Rogue Lawyer. Just finished it a month ago. Currently doing Great Courses lectures by Prof S. James Gates "Superstring Theory, The DNA of Reality". After this, I'll probably go looking for something written by some ex-CIA agent. Non-fiction preferred, but not required.

Dude!!! The Great Courses series is awesome. Are you listening on Audible? They have some great historical ones up there if you're interested in that sort of stuff.

Yes. I bought the course on CDs. I have advanced knowledge of mathematics from obtaining an engineering degree. But, Prof Gates shows visual simulations of all relevant equations on his PC. This makes the material understandable to a wider audience. Never fear. If you took freshman calculus, or college level algebra as a liberal arts major and forgot everything, you have the prerequisites for the class.

Lucky Ghost- apparently it’s about a video game that’s fueled by your real life emotions and (of course) turns out to be evil. But I’ve only read 3 pages. Working in a library I start reading a lot of books (normally thriller/sci-fi) but don’t finish most of them as if they start to drag something else on the shelves will grab my attention and I’ll move on to that.

Its crazy how much good shit the union gets done. The union does some bad shit too but i didnt know the contracts were this good. If a driver gets arrested for driving negligently the company pays the bail and all legal fees. Ive never heard a company doing that kind of shit

corporations now dont give a fuck about anyone but maybe the celebrity ceos and their money

its fine the companys there to make money but dont be surprised when the workers do anythin they can to git their share

up to & includin royally fuckin the company over

True, but I always try to put myself in the owners, CEOs position. If I owned a company I would be doing it only to make a profit and I wouldn't want some driver telling me I'm making too much money. Because in reality you can train a monkey to drive but you cant just train anyone to run the company.

you can train a monkey to drive but not drive well and when the company profits from exploitin monkey labor and the monkey kills a buncha people through incompetence or fatigue all of a sudden the companys hidin behind a fleeta lawyers and tellin everyone to fuck themselves while the ceo waterskis begind six gold plated yachts and thumbs his nose at the stupid poors

of course im usin metaphors and hyperbole here so dont tryta nail me down for literal interpretation

i got my grandfathers gold retirement watch from the gas company he worked for his whole life

a good job done for an appreciative organization not the bare minimum for a buncha fuckin bastards which is todays standard

yeah both corporation and labor can have examples of why they suck but the games too lopsided and only one side ends up with the fruitsa the labor nowadays
