Culture can be changed though. Here in the UK we changed attitude to seat-belts here in the 70s and 80s, and attitude to war veterans in the 90s. We're changing attitudes to smoking now. We did that with the hard work of charities and government awareness campaigns. It can happen, culture can be changed. Changing gun culture in the US might not be so easy, but it's far from not possible.
It might be harder for gun control, but it wouldn't be impossible. If gun control laws were introduced gently and gradually in America, that would be a lot better than marching in and outright banning all guns. Do it gradually and people will adapt, because adapting will be easier than breaking the law.
