  • The gunman's guns didn't belong to him.
I also don't think we should focus on the guns in this situation. I think we should focus on the fact that we're focusing on guns instead of the victims and their families, and then focus on the victims and their families.

The man in China who stabbed 22 children and an elderly woman yesterday did not need a gun to do so.

    • YES.

      Suddenly, I love you.

    • And none of the people he stabbed died. If he had a gun they might all have died. You can bet the number would have been above zero, anyway.

      • Thumbs-downed for facts. Fucking ridiculous.

        • I thumbs upped you because that is a fair point. But the point I'm attempting to make with my comment is that regardless of whether or not he has a gun he wanted to harm a bunch of children, and he succeeded.
A bunch of those kids are still in the ICU and still MIGHT die. A lot of those people are still living in very real fear that they might never get over, and it might not be the same degree of fear, (or it might!) but it's a very similar kind of fear to the kind that the folks in Connecticut now live with.
Maybe we should stop caring about which weapon he has and start caring about why he wanted to hurt them?

I am very happy that none of those poor kids are dead, though.

    • I heard about the Incident in China. But one of the things that I'm concerned about the most is why a teacher would have guns like these. A better way to word this is: Why are civilians allowed to have access to buying military weapons? These weapons should be only used by the specially trained professionals they were originally designed for.

      • I think civilian access to guns being the trigger point is an important debate, but I also think that debate could probably stand to wait until after everyone in Connecticut has stopped crying, maybe, is all I'm saying.
