What are your thoughts about married couples sleeping in different beds

I’m not married but my parents slept in different beds, but I think it was do in part to my dad’s work schedule.

Some consider offensive if a married couple sleeps in different beds. How do you feel?

  • Personally, I prefer to sleep in different beds, too. I have terrible sleep issues as it is, so I'd rather not bother anyone else or be bothered. At some point during the night, I pretty much sleep like a starfish so there's no room for anyone when it's sleepy-sleep time.

Not offensive in my eyes. Ideally, each in the couple should have their own bed and then a third one for the lovin'...

  • My boyfriends parents sleep separate because his dad snoars super loud. Now that I think of it I always wanna ditch my boyfriend for the couch cause he always wakes me with it too. Just because they are married doesn’t mean they have to sleep in the same bed.

  • I sleep better on my own, sharing a bed makes me feel claustrophobic. Sometimes I sleep on the sofa and he probably appreciates the uninterrupted sleep tbh. Whatever works for the couple.

  • I think that's ordinary dude, so long as they meet up to have sex then the relationship's probably good.

  • Depends on sleeping habits. It shouldn't be a marriage requirement.

  • My parents slept in separate beds because my dad could not get a good night's sleep with someone else in the bed.

  • We used to wake each other when we had a queen bed. Any time one moved or got up, the other would wake. Noe we have a king bed and we have no problem.

If people prefer different sleeping climates, it's only sensible.

I hope I never get to the point of having different rooms, personally. I like having him so close.

  • I think it's fine. I mean I can't sleep when someone's in the same bed. So.

  • As others have stated, it depends more on the circumstances than anything.

  • Kinda distant don't you think?

  • I don't think it's especially common, or even normal to sleep in separate beds for the most part, but it's not especially abnormal either though. I think it's can be acceptable, and normal to sleep in separate beds if one person moves around a lot in bed, and spreads out like a starfish, it would generally be okay to sleep in different rooms if one person snored really loudly as well.
