What are some current slang words and their old-time counterparts?

Greetings, Isitnormalia!

I'm interested in getting updated in the slang department. For instance, instead of saying "It's so neat!" I'm advised to use "It's so rad!" in current times.

What are other expressions I should be aware of and/or know about?

Please help me become hip and get with it!

I'll be very grateful to you for any contribution.

    Well, I do know kids these days use garbage like yeet, woke, cringe, yolo, cray (cause saying crazy is so much work) and thicc.

    I know "woke" is like cool, but lamer...

    "Cringe" is a word that should not exist. Means something between embarrassing and mildly annoying.

    "Yolo" is "You only live once", often used by idiot teenagers as they get wasted every weekend, cause nothing says once in a lifetime experience like mixing tequila and Jaegermeister and puking on a sidewalk...

    And cray is the sloth way of saying crazy.

    No clue what "yeet" means, probably a sound teenagers make when they are trying to attract a mate...

    As far as I know, thicc is used to describe a woman with an attractive large ass. I don't like big butts, but apparently many people do.

    I think "rad" went out in the 80's.

    Just never under any circumstances call something "nifty". People have been beaten up over saying that word.

    One thing you could do is ask someone in middle or high school, however, kids are often mortified that adults even want to know what the "cool words" are.

    When my son was 12, I asked him about the words kids are using and the look on his face was like that of a criminal who just got caught red-handed by the cops.

        Which seems to be 90% of current language haha.

        Ahhh who would think just expecting people to be able to communicate like humans would make you feel so old...

            I barely speak English:/ I definitely don't speak young person.

            I cannot use the word "cool" in actual speech because it sounds wrong coming from me. A lot of slang sounds "old person trying to be cool and failing miserably" coming from me. Even when I was a young person.

    I've seen a lot of people confused by the yeet thing.

    It came from a short video (a vine) that was made a couple of years back. A person was handed an empty can and then threw it while screaming: "This bitch empty. YEET!"

    Just look up 'yeet' it'll come up.

    Dope is used instead of cool quite often, a lot of people say yeet with barely any context or meaning, usually though it is shouted when throwing an object. Cringe is something that causes embarrassment and/or irritation e.g. a terrible dad joke. Thicc usually refers to a woman with a big ass. Lit means the same as dope or cool. Can't name any other universal ones off the top of my head, because i live in ireland so the slang here is very different to american slang
