What age do you think the drinking age should be lowered to?

I don't think there should be a drinking age at all.

I'll be more inclined to worry more about educating minors on responsible consumption than imposing a legal age that isn't stopping these minors from experimenting.

In the old days boys were considered old enough as soon as they grew hair on their upper lip. I think that seems reasonable.

The fact that America is one of the most socially conservative countries in the world is evidenced by the fact that it has among highest drinking ages of anywhere in the world (the exception being some states in India, which have legal drinking ages of 25 or even 30, or some areas of Pakistan which I believe have different drinking ages for Muslims and non-Muslims (although I really have no idea why)).

I think a very high drinking age is often used as a substitute for proper alcohol education, when there is no logical reason that a having high drinking age would cause people to drink any more responsibly. A low drinking age would allow us to give a better alcohol education because it allows kids and teenagers to talk freely about their drinking experiences with teachers.

I think 12 is an acceptable legal drinking minimum age. I would feel uncomfortable with anyone younger than that being allowed the choice to drink heavily, because no 11 year old could be expected to have the responsibility or self-control to listen to their body and stick to their limits. I think anyone older than that, provided they were given the right education, could have a responsible relationship with alcohol.

I think people already drink underage, but they should have to deal with the punishment if they get caught. 21 is the age I think most people should start drinking theoretically, but it's unrealistic in today's culture. So I think the drinking age should be 21. That's the age that your frontal lobe stops developing, so it makes sense to wait that long before you drink alcohol, or at LEAST before you can go out and drink it on a regular basis. Again, that's unrealistic but I think that 21 would be ideal.

I was mature enough at 15 to go in pubs and clubs and I went out most weekends. A lot of people who I went to school with were not mature enough at that point. Most people seem to get into going out properly when they are about 17 and in college.

I believe that the legal drinking age should be 13.
