What age are most american kids potty-trained?

I need a average on the age most kids here are potty-trained. I heard that because of disposable diapers being invented that it can be longer now until they're completely out of diapers. Thanks in advance.

  • Me and my siblings were at 2 and so were my kids. That used to be pretty standard. I have been seeing 3-4 become more acceptable but to me that's pushing it because 2 year olds are capable and at 3-4 they're in school (or close to it). I don't think bigger diapers should mean that capable children shouldn't be potty trained as soon as possible.

When I put my daughter in pre-k, soooo many kids were still in pull-ups and I think a lot of it was just laziness by the parents (I knew a couple of them and the kids were normal developmentally, parents were lazy slobs)

    • That's so disturbing, kids that ages being in pull ups when they're awake. They can't all have had medical conditions.

I'm lazy, and I'd never leave a kid in pull ups for my own convenience...

      • Yeah, I can understand a medical/developmental need and it's great that products exist now for those who need them (when I was a kid ~size 3 diapers was all there was) but way too many people take it as more time to not teach their kids. Kids are so eager to learn and it is so sad when parents ignore that. It often has a lifelong affect.

        • That's so fucked. Even though I can imagine the sort of fuckhead who would do that and know they do it, I'm still completely horrified by the concept.

  • 2-3 is pretty normal, regardless of the child's home country. It's just developmentally appropriate for the majority of children by then.

  • I was 3 1/2 when I mastered it.

  • I was one but I think the average age is around 2-3

  • I stopped wearing diapers at a year and a half. I also started drinking out of regular cups by that time too. That's because I had older siblings and cousins, so I wanted to do what they were doing. I also lived with my grandparents, who were very patient with lots of time of their hands.

  • My girlfriend hasn't been potty-trained yet. I have to remove her diaper when we fuck.

  • Two years old is what's normal as far as potty training is concerned, at least that was the norm when I was a small child.

  • usually about 2 is when you want them trained or starting to train

  • Boys typically start later and take longer to train than girls do, so my response was based on an average. According to my mom, both of my sisters were toilet trained when they were each two years of age, but I (a boy) was still in diapers (thick cotton training pants) well past my 4th birthday (closer to 5, in fact). My big problem was with pooping accidents.

  • I'm 66, and I have a rubber tube up my cock so that my piss drips into a plastic bag. Point is that your survey needs an "Other" to catch skewed data points.
