Most popular people who I know who are popular have got there because they move with the crowd, doing things they don't like and not being themselves to fit in with those around them.
From my observations at least, popularity doesn't CAUSE that behaviour, popularity is the EFFECT of that behaviour.

I genuinely don't see how having a large group of friends and being well known causes either of those things. Do you even know these people?
