The last day of my senior year a few people told me they thought I was a popular snob who didn't talk to them because I thought I was too good for them.
I told them the truth when I said that I was socially awkward and was too shy to talk to many people. Yeah, they felt like shit afterwards.
So apparently I was popular with a pretty horrible reputation. And never knew it until the last day. Weird.
story of my life. i'm a very, very shy and self-conscious person so i can never bring myself to initiate conversations with strangers or try to make friends since i feel like no one would want anything to do with me. I've had a ton of people tell me they thought i was stuck-up and intimidating when they first met me because i didn't really talk to them or interact with them but to be honest i'm just insanely shy in social situations. I've been working on trying to be less socially awkward though so hopefully one day i'll be less shy.
It's crazy, ya know. I don't about you but in my high school we had a lot of people who were really were extremely popular (everybody knew *of* them) but most people hated them. And then they were the ones on the last day of school to come up to me and tell me they thought I was a snob. I thought it was so funny how ironic these people were.
I know what it's like for people to think you're stuck up, I guess they just don't understand that quiet doesn't have to mean being snob.
Were you popular in school?
