Weird breathing patterns

You know how usually you breathe automatically without thinking it or breathing on your own?
A about half the time, i can't breathe automatically and I have to focus on breathing and hardly anything else. Every time i think about it, it happens to me again. Its really annoying and its happening more and more as time goes by. Help?

Try to focus on somthing to achieve. Set goals for yourself, and keep a diary of achievements throughout your day. Look at all the other people in the same situation as you, ive had this problem too for around 2 years. Also, there are two types of breathing, breathing up in your chest (this happens when your stressed), and relaxed breathing, which is towards your bladder. Try to breath with your shoulders down and when you breathe, push your stomache out then when you exhale blow as if your cooling your food down but dont make it obiovus. Doing this a couple of times in the day will make it alot better. I hope this helps! :)

David Carradine had that same problem. It's called autoerotic asphyxiation.

Yeah it's all in your head.
It may feel like you have to control it, but it's just you breathing voluntarily. You won't stop breathing if you stop thinking about it, your body will switch into involuntarily mode once you stop thinking about it.

Do you get this at night? Thats how I use to be. It helped to listen to music to get my mind off it.

This is the problem, when people read about it, it happens to them lol, it spreads like crazy which is a bit worrying =S. If your having difficulty taking your mind of breathing too, see a phsycologist and practise breathing slowly and camly, move your breathing downwards, like when you exhale, push your stomache out a bit.

lol yeah that happens to me too... like if you focus on breathing, then you can't do it automatically anymore, and the more you think of it the more you must focus or else you will die

It's all in your mind. You'll probably grow out of it. I've had similar problems and there is never anything wrong with me. I'm just a bit of a hypochondriac!
