Wealthier/upper-middle class americans more modern?

Just a general observation I've made with many people in general, at least here in and around Kansas City, here in the Midwest. People in the upper-middle class suburbs and parts of town in comparison to the more working class and less wealthy areas, those in the more upper-middle class areas are often more modern with how they think, talk, observe others, observe the world, observe life, they're more modern with the things they like such as music, movies, tv shows, etc., how they dress, their attitudes, mannerisms, tolerance (wealthier and upper-middle class (UMC) people have the more modern style impatience and distrust of other people in general, working class and poorer tend to have that more old fashioned trust of people (it's easier to get a working class (WC) person to loan you $10 if you need it than to get an UMC person, who'd actually have more to spare, to do so)). I think wealthy and UMC are more worldly, they've had the money to travel, are more educated and are more aware of how messed up the more modern world has become, so they're often more bitter as well as less trusting. WC and poorer sit in more old fashioned ways and mannerisms due to having less education of the modern world and changing times, generally speaking. They haven't had the money to travel around and see the world beyond their local communities. This is, again, just a general observation. I'm speaking about every WC and UMC person I've ever met. Anyway, state below if you agree or disagree with this general observation. And comment on your thoughts on the matter.

Why not be use an upper middle class mindset, and apply statistical analytics to test your hypothesis?

    • I don't want to think and act like modern upper-middle class people. I still believe in respecting people, having values and morals, and I like old films and music. I don't watch modern movies or TV shows, such as alot of the Netflix shows which have only come out in the past few years or more recently which I know that alot of people watch constantly. That's part of the reason why I think more old fashioned than many people today. And yes, what people watch I their spare time can carry into how they act and think when you go out and see people, because people's general behavior and attitudes DO get influenced by what they see on their favorite shows, programs, movies, etc. I think on a more old fashioned level, not just because of what I watch, but because that's how I prefer it. What people watch in their spare time is only part of what influences people's general attitudes and behavior. The rest just comes from their real surroundings when they go out into the world everyday. But, I just don't understand those ways. Between that and how I think more old fashioned, I know that is why alot of people I meet don't always accept me. Alot of people today really do think "fuck old fashioned morals and values".

Nouveau riche and upper-middle-class people definitely put an excessive amount effort into keeping up with the Joneses, but I don't think this goes very deep. The people in daily life who spend the most time talking about climate change and identity-politics wokery are just repeating what other people have told them. They don't understand what they're saying and they don't apply it to their actual daily living. I know people who go on and on about intersectional feminism but still treat their female coworkers like shit compared to their male coworkers, for example. I also know people who go on and on about climate change but have multiple kids and take international vacations every year. It's called moral self-licensing. Talking so much makes them feel like they've done their good deed for the day, so they don't actually feel the need to DO anything.

I guess though, since faking everything for the 'gram is a definitely modern habit, this in itself is being pretty modern too. Matching your walk with your talk is a very old-fashioned way to live. ;)

    • Not sure how to explain it differently from how I explained it up top. I'm really just asking a simple question, do you agree that people with more money keep up more with the modern times with how they act, talk, how they look at other people, and how they look at life? Some people on here must agree with me on this, because I got 4 "agrees" checked.

I don't know a lot of rich people, honestly they tend to have really boring superficial interests a lot of the time in my experience, so I guess they're more likely to keep up with technology. I just don't get like modern in terms of looking at life, like what that means.
