He was white. As am I. I tried to teach him to read. He knew his A B C'S. Maybe he was dyslexic. That was in the late 60's. Maybe they didn't know much about dyslexia then. Not a good excuse for the
school. They get paid by how many kids are in attendance. When I moved from New Mexico to Ca. I was in the 4'th grade and I knew what they were teaching in the 5'th grade. My older sister in Jr. high got moved up one grade.

I had a friend pass the 9'th grade that couldn't read.

Blacks routinely get through, no surprise there. The system would collapse if not.
