We aren't suppose to be in love..about ex and i?
PLEASE READ, I NEED ADVICE! THANKS
Facts:
-He's 20, I'm 21.
-I knew my ex for nearly 6 years now, dated him for 7 months.
-We are currently close friends.
-I talk to him in person and phone.
-My current boyfriend I've been with for about 5 years now but he can be VERY rude(he just started being rude in the past year).
-I only recently started hanging out with my ex more in the past 3 months because of my current boyfriend being very rude to me.
-My current boyfriend doesn't know I hang out with my ex, he just thinks I talk to him here and there.
-My ex told me he has a crush on me right now
-My ex has had a girlfriend now for 6 months.
-For 5 years now he's hugged me, listened to everything I tell him, etc as friends, but only now has he kissed my cheek and held my hand and stared at me like he did when we were a couple.
-I find he kisses my cheek or holds my hand mostly when I start acting spontaneous (I'm a goof at times).
-He kinda treats his gf like shes a friend and he bought me a ring when we were together but he never bought her anything.

My ex was my second boyfriend, but the first boyfriend I truly loved. Why our relationship ended? It just did.. No one broke up the relationship, it's just, he was depressed about losing his best friend to a car accident so he stopped talking the same to me and he became numb. I stopped being a lover and became a friend, he isolated himself for years after that up until about a year ago where he finally started to date again.
For over 5 years, I never stopped thinking about my ex while I was with my current boyfriend. It's not that I don't love my current boyfriend, it's just, its hard to get over someone you do love and care about so very much. I tried everything, I even stopped talking to him, but I still thought of him.About 3 months ago, I started to talk to him more and more and he started to show some interest. Then out of the blue he asks me if I like him. Here's how the convo went:
Him: Do you like me?
Me: Of course I like you, you're a great friend.
Him: No, I mean like me, like me
Me: Yes, I do
Him: I knew it..
Me: I'm sorry, I try not to like you, but you're just too likeable!
Him: Do you want to know why I asked? If you're curious, I will tell you.
Me: Go ahead.
Him: I'm very worried.
Me: Why?
Him: I have a crush on you and I'm afraid of hurting you.
Me: Oh.
Him: Yeah.
Me: How long have you felt this for?
Him: A few weeks.
Me: Oh, okay. Well, I'm glad we aren't together, I'm obviously not meant for you. (trying to get him to say something).
Him: I'm sorry. (Huh?)
Me: It's okay
Him: Please don't let this interfere with your relationship with Jake(my boyfriend). If it's a good relationship and you are happy please hold onto it. Hold onto it so tightly and never ever let it go. Promise me?
Me: I promise.
Him: Good.
