Water hurts my eyes in the shower?

Every time I have a shower, water seems to hurt my eyes. like, really badly. It always starts before I apply any hair product on, so it's just water on my hair then it drips down to my face and burns my eyes. I have to have a towel nearby in order to relieve the pain. I use soap and shampoo but I guess that makes it sting my eyes more. Is there any suggestion's I can do to prevent this?

How old are you, anyway? I'm sure I figured out when I was a couple of years old that soap and shampoo stings if it gets in your eyes.

I don't find that water itself makes my eyes sting, but maybe there's loads of chlorine in it where you live. Or maybe your water supplier has similar problems to what happened in Flint, Michigan, where chlorine is the least of your problems. Or do you use some sort of hair product that gets rinsed off when you first go under the water?

Nobody here can say for sure why it happens to you, but most people have enough sense to shut their eyes if the flow of water in the shower makes their eyes sting.

That was my first thought. I don't know why closing their eyes doesn't occur to them tho.
