I broke up with a partner who got with me but didnt show a lot of affection. It got to the piont of them completely ignoring me all together. They would rather spend time with thier same sex freinds it seems. Is it possible they were just gay? I kind of broke up with a different partner becuase he was gay.

      The OP probably would feel weird asking but for her -

      If you do ask, keep the question neutral by asking "what happened?" instead of "what did I do?" or "Why did you stop talking to me?"

      By asking what happened, no blame is being made or implied.

    Sometimes people like to save a seat, I don’t know if this makes any meaning in English.
    He might have dated you just to say:”if anything happens I have a girlfriend to go to” but he still choose to hang out with his friends.
    We can’t really tell if he’s gay or not, not from the little context you gave us but I think that it doesn’t really matter if it happened to you before that you were left because your partner was gay.
