This is normal. As you get older you're going to find out that normal is just a word. Many people are into different things. Did you know that in NY there is a growing trend where people pay for a snuggle partner, not to do anything just to snuggle them like babies.
So you see people need different comforts so yes it is normal. Don't worry about negative remarks from negative people, chances are they're lonely people sitting in a dark room looking for people to upset :-).
