Wanna dress up for comic con, but i'm scared

So my friend is going with a group of his own to comic con this year, and he invited me. I missed it last year, so I was super happy someone invited me this year.

I do wanna, however, dress up for the convention. I'm thinking simple, just a dinosaur onesie I have lying around.

But I'm sh*tless scared, because I don't know if him or his friends will be in costumes too. Should I tell him I'll bring a disguise? Or just show up on it? What if the others don't bring anything and I'm the only one? And also, is it even a good costume to begin with? I'm not cosplaying anything, I'm just showing up in a generic dinosaur costume, is that weird to others at the convention?

I'm probably overthinking too much, but I can't stop being scared, even though I wanna do this. Should I just ask him if they're thinking of using costumes? Should I surprise them? I don't know, what do you think?

    Just ask him what he and everyone else is doing. Though if anything, the dinosaur costume probably won't be a problem.

      Yeah, but what if he says nobody was planning to wear costumes? I still wanna go in one, do you think it would be weird to be the only guy on costume?

        You won't know until you ask. Besides, it's a convention. Nothing you wear will be weird.

    Message your friend and ask if anyone else is planning to dress up. I doubt wearing a dinosaur onesie would be considered weird for comic con.

      My concern is more because I would bring a costume that doesn't resemble anything in the pop culture (comics, games, musics, etc...), while every costume I saw at comic con did resemble something. Basically everyone is cosplaying, and I would not. That's what worries me.

        I doubt anyone is going to have a go at you for wearing a generic costume, unless they’re unhinged. It might also help you to locate yourself in group pictures.

        But you’re going there to enjoy yourself so whether you go as a dinosaur or not really boils down to whether you feel you would be happier if you did or didn’t.

        If it were me though I’d wear the dinosaur.
