He will get fat if he doesn't stop. Maybe not for four or five years, but his metabolism will slow down and the ingrained eating habits that he has developed will bring him alot more than the freshman 15. I was 155 and tall when I went into college with a horrible diet of cafeteria food and soda. Two years later and I had gained 60 lbs. Thankfully I've worked it off, but the time I wasted as a chubster certainly left it's mark.
Unfortunately there's not much you can do. It's very hard to curb someone's voluntary behaviour if there aren't immediate negative effects, and weight gain occurs subtly over a long period.
