Very difficult to explain...

Okay, so I've been having these weird experiences since I was little and sometimes it feels like I'm going crazy. Sometimes everything around me will feel like it's moving way too fast but still really slowly at the same time. It also feels as if everything is really loud and everyone is against me. It makes me feel physically small too. This comes on for no reason and happens every few weeks/months. Does anyone know what this is? Thanks.

Is It Normal?

  • As it's been happening since you were small, it doesn't sound like it's psychological. And it doesn't sound as though it's life threatening. These kinds of issues are more common than you might expect, and usually have a simple physical explanation. But given the random nature of them, and the fact that the symptoms don't persist, they tend not to get diagnosed.
It could be a few things. Could be an inner-ear issue. Could be a blood-flow thing. Is there a particular trigger that you've noticed that sets it off? Similar environment, loud sounds, sudden movements?
I think you should absolutely get it checked out - even just knowing exactly what the cause of it is can be a huge relief.

  • I can definitely empathize. I've been experiencing this since I was little, too. Is it normal? I don't know, but it's nice to know there's someone else to relate to.

  • ^ Yes, I was thinking maybe a mild form of epilepsy... but I don't really know. Just because you've had this feeling since you were little doesn't mean it is not psychological, we can't rule that out yet. As the previous poster said, it probably isn't life threatening but alway good to get these things checked out :) Good luck!

  • Haha no I'm not high... and yeah I think I should probably get it checked out. At first I thought it was some kind of form of epilepsy or something but now I'm not so sure...
