Veganism classified as religion in uk

This might happen. I think it will turn more people against it than ever.

Classified as a religion by whom?

It's been a few centuries since the British state could decree which set of superstitions were a valid religion.

The title of your OP is misleading. As the CNN story makes clear, the question before the court is not whether veganism is a religion, but whether it's a "philosophical belief" that should be afforded the same protections under British law as a religion, which will mean it is illegal to discriminate against someone simply because they are an "ethical vegan".

Other recognised "philosophical beliefs" are humanism, secularism, atheism, and the belief in man-made climate change. None of those are religions.

I thank you for clarifying "boojam". The title did sound crazy.

I've met lots of vegans; I've also met a whole lot of religious idiots.

Vegans are similar to religious nuts in that many believe they have found the Truth, and they are morally superior to non-vegans. They also tend to proselytise like fringe religions which are constantly seeking new recruits. Vegans are unlike religious fanatics in that there is solid scientific evidence supporting some of their justifications for their behaviour. The definition of religion is that it's a belief system based on things that are unprovable.

Yeah but like religious folks, some vegans are a pain in the ass.

I once had some vegan friend who was such. Of course she had a lot of other control issues.
But get this - one time we were at this college we attended and there was a cookout. I was sitting there eating a hamburger and hot dog and she is sitting there pinching her nose and complaining, "I can smell the meat". Oh my gyod grow up! I mean sitting there like a damn five year old pinching her nose.

I felt like going to get a few more hamburgers and waving them around her so she could "smell the meat" some more.

Oh well if it was on cnn it must be true, right?

It might be given the same legal protection as religion, it wouldn't be a religion, don't exagerate. Well it's based on facts and science, and actual tangible animals you can hold in your hands as opposed to some invisible elusive sky monster no one has ever seen, so it makes much more sense than any religion.

That sounds awesome! Now I have an urge for pizza. I actually tend to prefer mushroom, and Spinach pizza. Pizza is so good! 😋

Can you imagine if a vegan just said "fuck it" and ordered a steak and devoured it more ravenously than a starving canine?

One time i knew this vegan lady and there was a cookout. She acted like the antichrist was farting out of his cock. She sat by me, pinching her nose and complaining that she could smell the meat.

In defence of the UK, I would like to point out that OP is incorrect in this case. The facts have been mixed up. Veganism is not potentially going to be listed as a religion. Not any time soon, anyway.

In most other recent cases though I would concede that yes, the UK ::Snickers::

  • My step dad’s been on a vegan diet for nearly what...six years? And the way he acts about it should be a religion. I mean, I myself am a christian, so I do try to share my faith if someone asks about it or if they say it’s alright. But my step dad will start to share the “vegan way” with anyone. I hate going out to eat with him because it’s a lot of waiters not really understanding his dietary needs and in return, him bad mouthing them loudly, critically, and basically causing a scene. But I always found it funny that before he became a vegan, he’d hardly ever get sick, but now since being a vegan he’s usually the first and sometimes only person who gets sick...and it’s always severe enough to have him bedridden. It’s incredibly puzzling to me. But It’s his dietary choice, and I respect it.
Yet I can see why people would want to make it a religion.

most vegans are batshit insane, there are a few sane ones but the extremists ruin it for the rare few. i've literally seen vegans being racist, ablest, etc. and basically telling people that their lives are worthless and to kill themselves if they can't/wont go vegan. vegans value the lives of a pig over a human child and take pleasure in when a person dies in hunting accidents/farmers dying. they're fucking sadistic nutcases and act like crazy cultists

After people tried to get Jediism accepted as a religion in the 2011 census but it wasn't, I am going to Veganism won't be either

Imagine how sad Thanksgiving must be at a vegan household.
No turkey nor ham, just that retarded tofu stuff.

It would be almost as sad as not attending a furniture sale on President's day.
