Sentence structure, spellings and misspellings, grammar, capitalisation, frequency and type of emoticons, and content are very distinctive features of the style of a lot of people on IIN.
I particularly notice people who's styles are very different to mine. No capitals at the start of some sentences (Holzman_67), lots of ellipsis (TheGhostOfReason), no line of space between paragraphs (thegypsysailor), long posts and paragraphs (ItDuz - although I sometimes to this too). I think of these features of text in the same way I think of features of accents in spoken word. Other people here are have distinctions that appear more subtle to me (especially when they're very similar to mine: thisissomuchfun, bananaface, dappled, howaminotmyself, charli.m and a lot more), and other people have writing styles I really can't operationalise the features of at all.
People like flutterhigh had a very distinctive way of writing because of the content of his posts. Not the subject matter so much as an err of wit, smugness, self-awareness and mischief that followed him around. dirtybirdy has a very distinctive personality too, as does Bugsforbreakfast. A lot of people here do, but those are the most immediate examples for me.
If you ever want to identify me: I use a lot of brackets, semi-colons and asterisks to indicate emphasis. I almost always use an "-ise" ending instead of an "-ize" ending in words like "realise" and "Anglicise". I usually write out numbers in full (as in "ten", rather than "10") unless I'm doing actual maths or it would take a very long time. And a surprisingly large number of my posts finish with the tongue emoticon :P
