I've been a waitress. It's not the greatest job in the world, but you always make minimum wage. If you want better wages, you get a second job or get a higher paying job. I've done both.
And speaking as a former waitress, I don't believe in tipping unless the person has done something above and beyond their normal paid duties to deserve it.

I do tip rarely only when they do something beyond what they are paid for
They deserve it
But not for thr services they are paid to do

Makes an excellent point.
A tip for a job well done is one thing.
A tip just for doing the bare minimum is something else.
