That's a strange coincidence, I was reading about this literally just today.
Carl Sagan actually had that idea that the tunnel, with a light at the end of it, that you see when you die is a reliving of being born. But then it went on to say it's actually probably just decreased blood flow to the brain and eyes that causes it.
A guy called Edward Lambert conducted experiments on the effects of high g forces on military pilots for the US Air Force. He put them in an ultracentrifuge that he could control the speed of, that spun them around really fast until they passed out. But by keeping the speed at an exact rate, so that the pilots were on the threshold of passing out but not actually going quite fast enough to do so, he found that the blood flow to the pilots' eyes would decrease so that they would lose their peripheral vision and have tunnel vision. And so they reckon that this is the same reason you see a tunnel during a near death experience.
