I think it is normal it shows he cares for you and he is worried about you and that he really loves you.
My boyfriend rubs my tummy when I have tummy ache / If I feel bloated he also would cuddle me and hold me close to him he hates it when I am not next to him when I am sick because then he cannot take care of his baby witch is what he calls me.
I think your boyfriend seems nice and is keeper not lot of man are that caring to that point.
