My truck broke down so i got it towed to my driveway and then decided take the week off from work, take a bus to the airport and bought a ticket to LA last minute. Now I'm here for the week.
I wouldn't take a trip just because my vehicle broke down.
At the same time; I would not let a broked down vehicle interfere with a planed trip. I have left it in the shop a couple of times and rented a replacement vehicle for the duration. I've never lived where I could take a bus to the airport. Once I lived where I could take a taxi - which I used to do (and left the car in the garage - cheaper than airport parking).
