What roids do you take dude, my friend was thinking of getting into them, but wanted to take the non-needle kinds, he said something about you cycle off and on? Also, is it true that most professional athletes probably take them, they just cycle off when tests are coming up?
Hmmm. Good questions my guy. I have mostly taken SARM's in the past (specific androgen receptor modules) but even though they are banned just about everywhere, so technically a steroid, they aren't actually super potent. Just about 2 weeks ago I started taking more shit though, namely testosterone. My advice for people new to it would be to start with cycling on and off of a low to moderate does of testosterone and seeing how they respond to that before getting to complicated. To mitigate side effects, take as little as possible and do cycles, more is not always better. Some people get side effects WAYYYY more than others so it's very important to start slow. Some guys have taken a shit ton of like 20 things for a whole 20 year career and now they are almost completely fine except for their body can bo longer produce it's own hormones, but that happens to everyone. Then there's people who do like 3 mild cycles and get severe depression and permanent erectile dysfunction.
Cycling is definently safer than not cycling but if you want insane results you will get them more with constant use. I personally never plan to not so cycles because I'll risk erectile dysfunction which I really don't want. It's also cheaper to do cycles. If you cycle on and off so 50% of the time your on juice, you'll get maybe 90% of the results you would get from constant use but with way less ugly side effects and money spent.
As far as pro athletes go, it's pretty sport specific in terms of who takes them. I think a lot of people probably take light to moderate cycles in the off season, but that doesn't really make a night and day difference so it's hard to tell who is and isn't using. With specific athletes it's pretty easy for me to tell though because there is specific things you can look for, namely how their muscles are inserted and how full their muscle bellies are relative to their bodyfat%. I haven't looked into this too much tho I'm not really a sports fan.
Bonus! Here's what your pal should think about?
Why does he want to take steroids? What's the end goal? If its physique based, how good is he already? If you haven't made a damn good chunk of your natural gains steroids won't help much and are NOT worth it. At the very least he should have been having a solid diet and training like a demon for 3-4 years.

The price, this shits not cheap especially used long term.
Mood changes like irritability and depression?
Sexual impotence, decreased evacuate volume, erectile dysfunction and trouble orgasming?
However, the common myth that they wreck you heart is mostly false. Steroids alone do not and the relative heart disease risk is not bad at all even with fairly aggressive use. Any heart problems are mostly from just all that extra active tissue if you build a ton of muscle. But with a strategic heart healthy diet and close monitoring of your heart this can be mostly mitigated for most people.
This is no small descion, especially because most people get hooked on the results and never want to stop use. Encourage him to really think about this I really hate to see steroid abuse.
