Took a shit in my car, smell won't come out

I went number two and it soak through my cargo shorts into the seat cushion. I used soap, febreze, but the smell of shit is still there. Normal for car seat cushions? Why do they make them this way, so you can't remove the foam and clean it?

Is It Normal?
Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

  • It will have gone through the foam and got underneath, were the springs are, you need to take the whole seat out, that can be tricky on newer cars.

  • Ok, I had a similar issue....sort of. My son and I go catfishing a lot and one time we were out fishing late at night when it started to storm. So we gathered our fishing stuff a quick as we could. My son, who is 6 years old puts the chicken liver in the backseat of my SUV, which has leather seats. Anyway, he went to bed and I unloaded the fishing equipment from the tailgate. Unfortunately, I was unaware of the raw chicken liver in the backseat. Remember it was raining and late at night. Anyway, this was on a Friday night and I did not drive my car again until Monday morning.
On Monday, I opened my car door and was hit with a smell that you won't believe. It was BAD! I searched my car and found the container of liver, which had cracked from the heat from the summer months and had leaked all over the seats. The fluid ran in between the back and butt cushion.
That day of work suck! See I work from my car and am in and out of my car all day. First I tried soap and water. Then I went to the Dollar tree and purchased several bottles of off brand Febreeze. Well that did not work even after several applications.
My wife and I went to the car wash and used a power sprayer on my seat, under my seat, and etc. This made the smell die off for a few hours but it came back. Eventually things got worse because I started to get maggots under my seat, in my seat, and on the floorboard.
At this point I was depressant. We decided to use everything once again. Soap and water, power sprayer, and then I used these things that suck moisture our of the air that I got from Wal-Mart. After a few days of leaving the moisture suckling things in my car, I then dumped baking soda on the infected areas. I left it for a few days. After a few more days I vacuumed it. I have had no smell or problems and it has been months. Good luck.

  • I had a young drunk female vomit in my car. I owned that car for 8 years and I could never get rid of the faint smell of vomit. I tried just about everything. It was kind of a classic car (Karmann Ghia) so I restored it to original. I stripped the car out back to bare metal chassis, put in new carpet, new seats, reupholstered the seats. I finally got rid of that smell!

Maybe that's what you have to do.

  • LISTEN TO ME VERY CAREFULLY

Just go to your local pet store and buy some "nature's miracle advanced" spray that shit and the enzymes will eat, digest, convert and neutralize your shit-juice thus making the smell go away. It's expensive yet effective.

  • Maybe you shouldn't have shit in your car. Do you live in Los Angeles or something?

  • They don't design car seats to b shit on.

  • Sounds like a crappy situation.

  • No problem. Buy another seat at a junk yard. After you install it, put seat covers on all your seats so that they match.
